Khādī or Khaddar textile (Bengali: খদ্দর/ খাদি, Hindi: खादी, Urdu: کھدر, کھڈی ) is a term for handspun and hand-woven cloth from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan primarily made out of hemp. Khaddar has a natural cottony feel and unlike synthetic fibers, retains a healthy percentage of moisture, therefore being incredibly comfortable and warm in winters while cool to touch in summers.
Khadi bedding is easy to care for and is very popular in the subcontinent. Khadi is well suited to the American lifestyle as it is machine washable and easy to care for. To make your khadi clothes and bed covers last a long time, wash them with a mild detergent and tumble dry low.
The Market Find khadi products are made with pre-shrunk cotton. We recommend against over-drying or leaving them in the dryer after the cycle to retain the look of the textile.
